The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD250

DD250 stands with the Thompson raised, legs apart and helmet turned along the weapon. After the seated and drinking subjects in the release group, this paratrooper brings a direct firing pose back into the sequence.

A compact weapon and an open stance

The wooden stock and fore-end introduce warm colour against the uniform. Both arms gather around the weapon, creating a firm horizontal line above the more widely spaced boots.

The camouflaged helmet and its hanging strips add an irregular edge around the face. Pouches, straps and the lower-leg equipment give the body considerable detail without competing with the direction of the gun.

A front-quarter view shows the relationship between the face, stock and hands. A view directly along the barrel can hide much of that work.

A weapon shared across Allied collections

The National Army Museum’s Thompson collection entry offers a full-size equipment comparison. The weapon’s presence in different Allied figure ranges is a reminder that a nickname such as Tommy gun does not by itself establish the nationality of its carrier.

Here the paratrooper’s uniform and the American airborne release group provide that identity. The archived description gives no named village or battle for this particular pose.

Keep action and rest legible

DD248 and DD249 show men pausing. DD250 can occupy another part of the display, where a clear line of attention makes sense, rather than appearing to fire through the resting figures beside him.

The difference is useful in a larger scene: the same collection can show several kinds of activity without making every man respond to exactly the same moment.

For identification, compare the standing posture, raised Thompson and helmet treatment with the saved photograph. DD250’s role in the catalog is the compact, upright firing subject within this airborne group, with a different silhouette from both the seated gunner and the kneeling bazooka figure.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD250 product record lists a release date of March 2015 and a retirement date of December 2020. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
