The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD228

One man holds his rifle downward while the other rests lower with his carbine upright. DD228 turns two kneeling American infantrymen into flexible companions for a vehicle or a small ground-level scene.

The two weapons make identification easier

The original announcement specifies an M1 Garand and an M1 carbine. Those names describe separate weapons, as illustrated in Springfield Armory National Historic Site’s wartime collection.

The saved photograph makes the contrast visible: the longer rifle points down in front of one man, while the shorter weapon stays close to the other’s body. Both figures have distinct hand positions.

Tank riders, but not tied to one tank

King & Country explicitly designed the pair to work on a fighting vehicle or on the ground. Their low poses leave the upper body available to look and interact without towering above the scene.

The photo does not include a tank. Any vehicle used in a display is a separate release and needs enough suitable space for the figures to sit securely.

The change of level creates a conversation

The rifleman’s head is lower, while his companion looks slightly upward. That difference can make the pair appear to react to someone standing nearby.

On a shelf, a crate or low scenic edge can suggest a resting place without a large vehicle. Keep both weapons clear so that the figures’ separate identities remain readable.

A pair worth keeping together in the records

DD229 adds another two riders with a Garand and BAR. Combining the releases produces four men, but each original two-man group retains its own code.

DD228 belongs in the catalog for its adaptable poses and clearly different weapons. It provides a pause in the infantry’s movement, and gives a vehicle display human activity beyond the crew permanently occupying its hatches.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD228 product record lists a release date of May 2014 and a retirement date of June 2020. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
