The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD227
DD227 stands with his Thompson carried across the hips, looking to one side beneath a netted helmet. The lighter jacket, darker trousers and pale gaiters separate him visually from the airborne figures released around the same period.

The named weapon is useful identification
The archived announcement identifies an M1928 Thompson. The National Army Museum’s Thompson record provides a full-size comparison and notes the wartime preference for box magazines over the better-known drum.
The miniature’s weapon has a long wooden fore-end line and a compact magazine beneath the body. Keeping the Thompson identification in the catalog makes the figure easier to find among numerous American infantrymen.
A quiet standing posture
The arms remain relatively low, so the face and helmet stay visible. The head turns away from the direction of the feet, suggesting attention to something nearby rather than a forward rush.
The sling creates another shallow curve below the weapon. That detail is easiest to see against an uncluttered background.
The companion releases explain the setting
King & Country described this man as backing up DD226’s machine gun, within the broader group accompanying the DD225 M20. Those are three separate releases with complementary roles.
The standing figure adds height beside the seated gunner. He also gives the vehicle a nearby infantry presence without requiring a large squad.
A useful contrast with an airborne Tommy-gunner
DD218 is an 82nd Airborne Thompson figure with a more forward-leaning pose and different uniform presentation. DD227 supplies a standing infantry alternative.
That comparison shows why weapon name alone is not enough to identify a loose figure. DD227 earns its place through the combination of Thompson, ordinary infantry clothing and attentive standing posture, with the related reconnaissance group providing a natural collecting connection.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD227 product record lists a release date of April 2014 and a retirement date of June 2022. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
