The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD225
Six wheels, an open compartment and a circular gun mount give DD225 a profile quite different from a turreted armoured car. The standing commander is part of the upper silhouette, while a second crew position sits lower in the hull.

Removing the turret created another job
The Tucson Military Vehicle Museum’s M20 record describes a vehicle developed from the M8 Greyhound with an open armoured superstructure in place of the turret. It served command, reconnaissance and utility roles.
That relationship makes the model more interesting than a generic wheeled scout. The shared family outline remains, but the open space and crew arrangement tell a different story.
Two supplied crew positions
The manufacturer lists a standing commander and a partial-body driver. In the saved image, the commander rises above the front of the open compartment while the lower figure is easier to overlook.
An elevated front-quarter view helps establish both positions. It also shows the ring mount and interior space that distinguish the M20 from the M8.
An Allied vehicle with a wider career
A Paris Musées photograph dated 19 May 1945 records a French-operated M20 in Bavaria, with crew and aerials visible. It provides a period comparison for the vehicle type beyond this model’s U.S. presentation.
The museum photograph is not a matching vehicle identity for DD225. The miniature retains its own American markings and summer finish.
A scene built around information
The commander, antenna and open compartment make the car suitable for a road junction or observation theme. Infantry from DD226 and DD227 were offered as related support subjects, but are separate releases.
DD225 adds a practical command-and-reconnaissance vehicle to the collection, with enough visible crew space to reward a closer look from above.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD225 product record lists a release date of April 2014 and a retirement date of May 2020. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
