The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD084
DD084 leans into his Thompson with the legs spread and the weapon held forward. The compact gun and active stance immediately distinguish this NCO from the neighbouring kneeling rifleman.

The title uses a familiar nickname
The archived release calls the weapon a Tommy Gun and identifies the figure as an 82nd Airborne NCO. The saved image shows the characteristic short, box-magazine outline rather than the longer wood-stocked rifle carried by DD083.
That difference gives the group more than a change of posture. It adds another recognizable equipment subject within the same airborne sequence.
Small groups in a scattered landing
American airborne soldiers did not all land neatly with their assigned units. The National WWII Museum describes men from the two divisions mixing on the ground as they worked toward their objectives.
An NCO figure helps a collector explore the human scale of that story. DD084 remains an anonymous representative, without an identified individual or specific action attached to the release.
The stance carries the movement
The bent front leg and trailing foot prevent the upright figure from looking static. His equipment hangs around the body while the arms pull the viewer’s attention forward.
A clear background behind the gun keeps that main line readable. The silhouette can disappear if it overlaps a vehicle’s projecting equipment.
A useful comparison within the collection
DD084 belongs beside the rifle and BAR figures as a distinct sculpt and weapon combination. Keeping its full code with the reference photograph helps identify the NCO when similar airborne figures have been separated from their original boxes.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD084 product record lists a release date of June 2007 and a retirement date of August 2009. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
