The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD083

DD083 brings the rifle to the shoulder from a kneeling position. A netted helmet, full equipment and the aimed weapon give this small figure a busy outline without losing the clarity of its central action.

The rifleman beneath the larger story

The source identifies him as an 82nd Airborne soldier. Unlike the named commanders elsewhere in the DD range, this man represents an ordinary infantry role.

The D-Day catalog overview supplies the wider campaign history. The individual release preserves the pose, equipment and divisional identity that make this particular miniature recognizable.

Compare observation with firing

DD082 also kneels, but his binoculars and upright rifle give him a different purpose. DD083 directs his whole upper body along the line of the weapon.

Set the two reference photographs together and the difference becomes immediately clear. Similar body height does not mean the same sculpt or activity.

The ground-level view

The raised knee and bent supporting leg create open spaces around the body. A low front-quarter angle shows those relationships better than a distant overhead photograph.

The netted helmet and carried load are useful secondary identifiers. They help separate the airborne figure from more generally described American riflemen in unboxed collections.

Why keep a separate entry for a basic pose?

A complete catalog needs ordinary soldiers as well as the spectacular vehicles. DD083 gives the 2007 airborne group a specific kneeling rifleman whose details can be checked and compared.

The archived record does not name a regiment or a particular battle incident. Keeping that limit clear leaves room for a collector’s display interpretation without turning it into a supposed release fact.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD083 product record lists a release date of June 2007 and a retirement date of August 2009. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
