The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD085

DD085 holds a long Browning Automatic Rifle across the front of his body. The weapon’s length and the figure’s comparatively upright stance set him apart from the more forward-leaning Thompson gunner in DD084.

Read the divisional identification

The archived description assigns DD085 to the 101st Airborne. That differs from several adjacent releases identified as 82nd Airborne, even though the figures share a release period and broadly similar clothing.

A catalog should preserve that distinction. A run of consecutive set numbers is not evidence that every man represents the same division.

The 101st and the beach exits

Securing causeways inland from Utah Beach formed an important part of the division’s D-Day work. The National WWII Museum’s account connects that task with the arrival of troops from the beach.

The figure does not identify a particular participant in those actions. It provides an equipment role within the broader airborne setting.

The BAR changes the silhouette

The long barrel and forward support visible in the photograph extend well beyond the hands. The gun occupies more horizontal space than the compact Thompson in the neighbouring release.

That makes the reference image valuable when checking an unboxed example. The body alone does not tell the whole story of the sculpt.

Why this figure belongs separately

DD085 adds both a different weapon and a documented divisional association to the 2007 group. It rewards comparison with DD083 and DD084, while retaining its own identity rather than becoming simply another American soldier with a gun.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD085 product record lists a release date of June 2007 and a retirement date of August 2009. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
