The Operation ToyBox catalog · AL052
AL052 turns a moving horse into a means of rescue. A wounded, dismounted trooper has been picked up by a comrade and must hold on while they move away. The release concentrates the larger battlefield into a close relationship between two men and a single mount.

A rescue in motion
The product description explicitly identifies the second man as wounded and rescued. That gives the set a different purpose from two healthy soldiers sharing transport. The tension comes from the precarious journey, rather than from a weapon directed at an opponent.
I would give this group an open path ahead and some separation from the main line of a charge. The display should help the viewer understand that its immediate objective is safety. A medic or a quieter area farther along that route can develop the idea without crowding the set itself.
Evacuation was part of the mounted campaign
Transporting casualties across the distances of Sinai and Palestine posed difficult practical problems. The Australian War Memorial’s account of camel service describes animals carrying wounded men and the discomfort of that journey. It is broader campaign context, not an assertion that AL052 represents a formal ambulance arrangement.
The distinction matters: this miniature depicts an immediate act of assistance, while an organized evacuation system involved further stages of care and transport.
Why it belongs beside the action pieces
A rescue subject keeps the collection from stopping at the moment of attack. AL052 shows what one soldier does for another when the fighting has already caused harm. Its mounted movement lets it sit visually alongside charging releases, while its purpose makes the scene feel different.
It is also a useful comparison with AL017, where a rescuer carries the casualty on his shoulders. The two sets approach a similar human problem through different forms of movement, giving a collector variety in both composition and meaning.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived AL052 product record lists April 2013 as the release date and February 2018 as the retirement date. Those are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
