The Operation ToyBox catalog · AL071
A Ford Model T in a Light Horse collection is exactly the sort of surprise that makes the AL range worth exploring. AL071 brings a small motor vehicle into the world of slouch hats and saddles, complete with two Australian figures and a Vickers machine gun mounted at the front.
Look in the back as well as the front
The product description identifies a spare Lee-Enfield rifle and a folded machine-gun tripod in the rear bed. Those details give the vehicle more to offer than its conspicuous forward weapon. They suggest equipment being carried for use beyond the vehicle itself, turning the load area into part of the story.
I would photograph this release from slightly above and at an angle, so the occupants, front mounting and rear equipment can all be seen. A low side view may flatter the vehicle’s outline but conceal much of what makes this particular set distinctive.
A real Ford-and-Vickers connection
The Australian War Memorial holds a photograph of a Model T utility armed with a Vickers and manned by Australian troops in Palestine. It is a particularly relevant historical companion for AL071. The photograph confirms the combination in the campaign without requiring the model to be an exact reconstruction of that individual vehicle.
Another wartime view of the Jericho Road includes a Model T in the landscape. Together these images widen the campaign beyond the familiar picture of an exclusively horse-mounted force.
A different centre for an AL display
The Ford can anchor a patrol or transport scene, with a dismounted figure nearby and the mounted troops farther out. Its wheels, flat bed and compact mechanical shape introduce a welcome contrast to the animals. This is a release to collect for the conversation it starts as much as for the extra vehicle it adds.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived AL071 product record lists February 2017 as the release date and June 2022 as the retirement date. Those are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
