A film shelf can have its own logic

The AFI record identifies Brian G. Hutton as the film’s director and Troy Kennedy Martin as its writer. The story’s fictional framework is part of what this miniature grouping recalls.

There is also a pleasing layer of illusion: the film’s Tiger appearance was created over T-34 vehicles, a point discussed in ARMOR, March–April 2000. A movie-themed model should not automatically be treated as documentation of an actual wartime vehicle and crew.

Give the turret number room

A side-quarter view shows 114 while keeping the commander visible. In a three-tank display, slightly differing angles make the individual markings readable instead of turning the models into a row of nearly identical gun barrels.

WS323’s place in the collection comes from completing that relationship while remaining identifiable on its own. The hatch figure and turret number are the first details to compare with the reference image.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS323 product record lists a release date of March 2016 and a retirement date of June 2017. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
