The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS309

The first number to notice on WS309 is 311, painted on the turret. The second is the catalog code itself. They do different jobs: WS309 identifies the release, while 311 identifies the vehicle as represented by the model.

A follow-up to the earlier winter issue

The manufacturer introduced this as a second winter Tiger after WS220, changing the vehicle number and using a half-body commander from its commander-figure range. It is therefore a specific later issue, not simply an alternative way of writing WS220.

The white finish is broken by darker wear and details. Tracks, tools and openings prevent the vehicle from becoming an uninterrupted block of white.

The commander gives the tank a human scale

The hatch figure wears light winter clothing, linking him visually with the vehicle. His upper body adds a vertical accent to the broad turret without standing as high as a full figure on the roof.

The long gun and wide track stance remain the dominant shapes. A slight side angle makes the turret numeral readable while retaining the winter finish across the hull.

A useful catalog distinction

WS311 is a different release: the movie-inspired Karl Otto Tiger. A listing that mentions “Tiger 311” can therefore be ambiguous unless photographs show whether the seller means this winter vehicle’s number or that other product code.

The reference image is particularly useful for checking the turret markings and included commander together. Neither a white Tiger alone nor a box number alone establishes this exact version.

WS309 belongs beside the earlier winter issue as a comparison in finish, markings and presentation, with its own identity preserved.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS309 product record lists a release date of November 2014 and a retirement date of November 2015. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
