The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS289
WS289 holds his rifle vertically beside a raised knee. The steel helmet, mustached face and comparatively still body give the figure a different character from the loading and grenade-handling men around him.
The vertical rifle is the main outline
The weapon rises above the kneeling body, drawing attention from the ground toward the face. The free hand rests low near the knee rather than performing another large gesture.
The release description does not name the soldier or attach a specific incident to the pose. Its subject can remain an anonymous infantryman waiting with his equipment.
The helmet distinguishes this member of the group
The uncovered steel helmet contrasts with the cloth-covered headgear of WS287, WS288 and WS290. Small differences such as this help identify individual releases even when their overall height is similar.
A front-quarter view should show the rifle’s full length and the face beneath the helmet. Those details are more useful than a rear view dominated by equipment.
A pause among active figures
Place WS289 beside a figure looking through binoculars or preparing a weapon. His stillness gives the group an interval between more specific actions.
The low stance also allows taller figures to remain visible behind him. Any vehicle, wall or other support used in the display is a separate item.
WS289 belongs in the catalog for the clear upright-rifle kneel. The helmet, face and vertical weapon establish a distinctive combination that should remain attached to the code when comparing boxed and loose examples.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived WS289 product record lists a release date of May 2014 and a retirement date of May 2019. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
