The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS236

The dark radio box in front of WS236 is almost as conspicuous as the prone operator himself. Headphones and the upright antenna create an immediately readable communications scene, with the man’s attention directed toward his equipment.

The equipment is in use, not simply carried

Unlike a marching figure with a pack, this operator has his radio positioned at ground level. The low body and hands near the unit make the task visible.

King & Country describes an attempt to remain in contact with other elements of his company. The release does not identify a particular radio model, frequency or individual operator, so those details should not be inferred from the box alone.

Look beyond the antenna

The tall aerial is the first clue, but the headphones and placement of the unit complete the subject. Together they separate WS236 from the prone riflemen released alongside it.

The bare head also changes the silhouette, giving the face and earphones more prominence than a helmeted firing pose would allow.

A small grouping about information

WS234’s paper-carrying runner and WS235’s receiving soldier make useful comparisons. Each release shows a different part of communication through a concrete object or gesture.

Adding the radioman creates a varied group with different body heights and tasks. The figures need not all be aimed toward the same unseen opponent for their relationship to be understandable.

This is the set’s appeal within an infantry collection: the historical subject is maintaining contact, and the sculpture makes that work distinct from carrying ammunition, signaling or firing.

Keep the radio face, hands and headphones visible in a display photograph. Those details explain the figure more clearly than the antenna by itself, and they are the features worth checking when a loose example is offered without its original packaging.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS236 product record lists a release date of October 2013. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
