The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS232

The raised pointing arm gives WS232 an unmistakable direction. Below it, the metal gorget hangs across the uniform, while a machine pistol occupies the other hand. Those details turn an otherwise simple standing pose into a recognizable military-police subject.

A road is more than background scenery

The U.S. Army’s March 1945 handbook on German forces describes traffic discipline as a principal Feldgendarmerie responsibility. It also records patrol and military-discipline duties. The pointing figure can therefore represent a practical part of moving an army, rather than a decorative sentry beside a vehicle.

The sculpt does not name a road, unit or particular incident. Its historical setting comes from the role and equipment, leaving the exact display location open.

The gorget is the detail to notice

The suspended plate creates a bright shape against the darker tunic. The old release description uses the nickname associated with the chain, but the visible badge of duty is more useful for identification than the nickname alone.

The pointing hand then carries the viewer’s attention beyond the figure. A nearby vehicle or road sign can give that direction a visual destination.

One date in the archive is clearly wrong

The source lists an August 2013 release and a retirement year of 2108. That future year is a catalog error, so it is not repeated here as a reliable retirement date.

This is a useful reminder that an old dealer listing can preserve valuable identification information while still containing an obvious transcription problem.

WS232 adds organization and movement to the collection. Its combination of gorget, weapon and extended arm distinguishes it from an infantryman simply signaling to companions, and gives a transport display a specific human task to show.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS232 product record lists a release date of August 2013. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Its retirement field is chronologically inconsistent, so it is not used to date this release. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
