The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS231

The reference photograph for WS231 shows a populated half-track, but the release itself is the two seated passengers. The Demag and its driver belong to WS229. Keeping that distinction clear is essential when a small accessory set is photographed inside a much larger vehicle.

The seated figures are the point

King & Country identifies these men as Wehrmacht infantry and explicitly designed them for WS229. Bent legs and relaxed seated bodies give them a different character from the advancing and firing figures around them in the catalog.

There is no spectacular action here. The interest is a change of pace: soldiers occupying a vehicle, with their equipment and bodies fitted into the space available.

What transport adds to the historical picture

The Demag’s real counterpart carried men as well as performing towing and support duties. Overloon’s account of the Sd.Kfz. 10 lists an eight-man carrying capacity for the vehicle type.

That does not mean WS231 supplies eight figures. It explains why a passenger accessory belongs beside a model that otherwise arrives with only its driver.

Photograph the contents separately

For a collector documenting the set, one image of both passengers outside the vehicle is particularly useful. It establishes what belongs to the code before a second photograph shows the assembled display.

The original description suggests possible use in other German vehicles, but does not guarantee every seat or interior will fit. Their intended relationship with WS229 is the firmest starting point.

WS231 earns its place through that small transformation from an empty passenger compartment to an occupied transport. The two infantrymen add scale, varied head positions and a sense of waiting or traveling.

The vehicle shown around them is context; the complete two-man passenger pair is the collectible being cataloged here.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS231 product record lists a release date of August 2013 and a retirement date of May 2019. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
