The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS224-3

The final digit of WS224-3 does not match the last digit painted on its turret. The model represents 204, making this a good example of why a catalog should follow documented releases rather than generate assumed set numbers in sequence.

Two different numbering systems

The -3 suffix identifies the third product variant in this group. The turret carries 204. Its companions are WS224-1, numbered 201, and WS224-2, numbered 202.

The gap does not provide evidence for an additional 203 model. Only the documented offerings belong in this catalog.

The commander was optional, not lost

Like 202, this version was sold without a commander figure. The original description invites collectors to choose another crew accessory if desired.

The saved photograph accordingly leaves the hatch unoccupied. That lets the compact turret, number and dusty paintwork remain the model’s main points of identification.

A collecting subject with a longer afterlife

The Military History Institute in Prague notes that the LT vz. 38 family’s story extended into postwar Czechoslovak tank-crew training in the early 1950s. Its history was longer than the early-war German finish represented here.

That wider perspective is part of the appeal of the small vehicle: a single gray model can open a discussion about design origins, changing operators and the survival of equipment after wartime service.

WS224-3 itself remains the German-marked 204 interpretation. No specific postwar history is being assigned to the miniature’s painted number.

For a collector comparing the trio, the practical distinction is straightforward: 201 includes its commander; 202 and 204 do not. Preserve the full code and visible turret number together, and the similar-looking models retain their separate catalog identities.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS224-3 product record lists a release date of May 2013. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
