The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS204

The soldier in WS204 raises a hand to his mouth while keeping his rifle upright beside him. The cigarette is a small detail, but it changes the entire pose from a neutral infantry stance into a brief personal action.

The hand draws attention to the face

The helmet and chin sit close to the raised fingers. Below them, pouches and straps divide the green tunic into smaller shapes, while the rifle forms a long vertical line at the other side.

The sculpt’s interest lies in that contrast of scale. The weapon is large and immediately recognizable, but the tiny object near the mouth gives the figure its title and mood.

A noncombat sequence with different activities

WS204 through WS208 offer smoking, looking aside, drinking, carrying a crate and pointing. The figures share a broad infantry appearance while changing what each man is doing.

That makes them useful as a group of individuals during a halt or movement period. Their different gestures can suggest several simultaneous activities rather than a synchronized line.

The product description does not name a particular soldier, brand of cigarette or location. The catalog keeps the scene at the visible level rather than building a fictional anecdote around a small accessory.

Give the gesture room to survive

A close view should preserve the hand and face together. A wide photograph dominated by a vehicle can make the cigarette disappear, leaving the figure’s most distinctive action unreadable.

He can stand near the drinking soldier WS206 or apart from a group moving equipment. A slight change of angle keeps the raised hand from merging into the helmet.

WS204 adds an ordinary pause to a collection often described through weapons and units. The figure’s reason for being is the small personal gesture within the familiar uniform, with the complete rifle and equipment keeping the military setting visible around it.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS204 product record lists a release date of June 2013 and a retirement date of November 2020. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
