The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS091

The civilian standing beside the Citroën is the central figure in WS091. His open shirt and exposed posture contrast with the uniformed men surrounding him, turning an elegant French car into part of a coercive occupation scene.

What King & Country depicted

The original release combines a Citroën Traction 11CV, a seated driver, two standing guards and a civilian described as a resistance suspect. That is four represented people in total, including the driver.

The figure is not identified as a real individual. The word suspect reflects the captors’ description in the sales narrative; it does not establish guilt or tell us what happened to him afterward.

Gestapo and SD are different terms

The box title says Gestapo Arrest, while the announcement identifies SD personnel. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum distinguishes the Gestapo, the Nazi political police, from the SD, the SS intelligence service. Both came under the Reich Security Main Office in 1939, but the names are not interchangeable.

The Gestapo’s repression involved torture, persecution and deportations. That institutional history is essential context for a model whose title could otherwise become just a dramatic collecting label.

The ordinary car makes the scene unsettling

The green saloon retains the rounded wings and civilian proportions of its French design. There is no tank or battlefield gun to separate the encounter visually from an everyday street.

The French category records the vehicle’s origin. It should not be read as proof of the unnamed prisoner’s nationality or a precise location supplied by the archive.

Presenting the group with care

A street setting can work, but the prisoner should remain visible rather than disappearing behind the car as an accessory. An unobstructed three-quarter view lets the viewer understand the relationship between him, the guards and the waiting vehicle.

WS091 belongs in a historical catalog because it addresses occupation and civilian vulnerability. Its interpretive value depends on keeping that human subject connected to the miniature’s attractive craftsmanship.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS091 product record lists a release date of March 2007 and a retirement date of May 2008. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
