The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS090

The broad grey canvas cover is almost as prominent as the camouflage cab on WS090. This Opel Blitz brings an ordinary transport shape into a range often remembered for tanks and fighting infantry.

The military story beneath a familiar truck

The DISG vehicle collection records the Opel Blitz family’s use in German military transport, including cargo and specialist bodies. A truck chassis could support several different jobs; the particular body fitted to a model is therefore part of its identity.

WS090 represents the canvas-covered cargo form in the manufacturer’s Normandy camouflage treatment. The release includes a seated driver, a removable rear cover and rolling wheels, according to its original announcement.

Two different surfaces to enjoy

The three-colour paint runs across the cab and cargo-bed sides, while the cover remains a contrasting grey. The folds and little rectangular openings in the canvas treatment give the largest plain surface some texture.

Viewed from the rear quarter, the height of the covered load space becomes especially apparent. From the front quarter, the rounded bonnet and cab take over. It is a vehicle that changes character with the viewing angle.

A display can begin with a delivery

Rather than treating the truck as background filler, make its destination the subject: a waiting group, a depot entrance or an open unloading area. Loose supplies would be additional scenery; the archive does not list a cargo assortment as included.

That approach connects the vehicle to people and work without inventing a specific historical load for this miniature.

Why it earns space beside the armour

The Opel introduces the transport side of the WS campaign catalog. Its large covered body gives a scene visual mass without a turret or gun barrel. For a retrospective collection, it is a useful reminder that the road behind a fighting formation contained more than armoured vehicles.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS090 product record lists a release date of March 2007 and a retirement date of November 2009. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
