The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS059
The long gun dominates WS059, but the front sandbags and two exposed crew figures soften the vehicle’s angular outline. This is a Jagdpanther, with its weapon mounted in a fixed fighting compartment rather than a rotating turret.

What changed when the turret disappeared?
The Tank Museum’s Jagdpanther history identifies the Panther chassis and long 88mm gun. The weapon’s limited traverse meant that larger changes of direction required moving the vehicle itself.
That is the interesting tradeoff behind the low, sloping shape. A powerful gun and substantial frontal protection did not remove the practical demands of positioning and moving a heavy tracked vehicle. The museum also records mechanical difficulties, a useful counterweight to the invincible-machine language sometimes found in old sales copy.
The marks on this miniature
The archived announcement describes moulded impact marks and partial side skirts as features of the model. The sandbags across the front are another deliberate part of its appearance.
Those details tell a sculpted story. They are not evidence that a particular historical Jagdpanther survived the exact sequence of hits suggested by the miniature. When inspecting a secondhand example, compare its skirt arrangement and surface marks with the original image before deciding what is damage.
Two figures above the armour
The crew figures introduce different heights along the roof and provide a human scale for the vehicle. They also distinguish this original offering from later Jagdpanther releases with other finishes or crew combinations.
WS059 makes a useful companion to WS062’s separately sold riders. If displaying them together, keep the original contents recorded separately: the vehicle release has its own two crew, while the four infantry riders belong to another code. That distinction preserves the collecting history as the display grows.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived WS059 product record lists a release date of August 2004 and a retirement date of September 2006. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
