The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS057

WS057 presents the large 88mm gun with its transport bogies attached, the long barrel extending above a substantial wheeled mounting. The transport equipment gives the model almost as much visual character as the gun itself.

A gun that had to move

The archived description emphasizes the wheeled bogies, elevating barrel and traversing mounting. Those features let the miniature show more than a static firing position.

The WS historical overview connects artillery with its transport and crews. The size of this piece makes that relationship especially apparent when it is displayed beside the WS052 prime mover.

The familiar 88mm designation

Imperial War Museums’ Second World War gallery text places the 88mm Flak gun within German air defence. Its historical story extends beyond the antitank role with which many collectors first associate the calibre.

The model’s exact finish and arrangement should still be read from the saved reference, rather than inferred from the broad weapon name.

Separate crew groups can enlarge the scene

WS055 and WS056 are separately numbered three-man crew offerings. Their presence in a larger display should not be assumed to mean all six figures came with the gun.

The reference image here records the gun, bogies and the figure shown beside it.

Why this version belongs separately

The archived title identifies a limited-edition offering, but that historical label is not a measure of today’s availability or value. The useful collecting distinctions are the mounting, camouflage and original arrangement.

Keep the transport components associated with the gun when documenting an example.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS057 product record lists a release date of May 2004 and a retirement date of December 2004. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
