The Operation ToyBox catalog · WH056
WH056 looks top-heavy beside an ordinary light tank. An open armoured gun compartment rises above the small tracked chassis, making the conversion itself the most interesting part of the model.
Two equipment histories meet
The release represents a 4.7cm anti-tank gun carried on a French Renault R35 chassis in German service. That combination appears in the wartime U.S. Handbook on German Military Forces, which lists the weapon and French tank chassis together.
The design’s origin and the service represented are different questions. This is categorized as a German military subject because of the conversion and use depicted, while its French vehicle ancestry remains central to the article.
An open compartment, not an ordinary tank turret
The saved photograph shows the tall angular enclosure with an open top. Calling it simply a turret can hide the important visual difference from the original tank layout.
The small chassis underneath makes the size of the gun installation especially noticeable. A side view reveals that relationship clearly.
Captured equipment as a collecting subject
WH056 provides a route into the history of equipment reused by an opposing army. It can make an informative comparison with more familiar purpose-built German vehicles without claiming that the conversion was equivalent to a later tank destroyer.
The model’s unusual proportions are part of that story, rather than a reason to group it under a generic tank name.
Why the exact release matters
The code preserves this particular gun-and-chassis combination. When comparing an example, look at the open compartment, barrel and running gear together. They distinguish WH056 from other German conversions built on captured French vehicles.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived WH056 product record lists a release date of September 2016 and a retirement date of July 2017. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
