The Operation ToyBox catalog · WH042

WH042 brings the rifle to shoulder height while the soldier stays on one knee. The long horizontal weapon and the low body create a compact, easily readable firing pose.

A short title with a clear subject

The archived product entry gives little narrative beyond the title. The saved photograph therefore matters: it records the kneeling position, shouldered rifle, helmet and carried field equipment.

There is no need to turn that limited description into a supposed named engagement. The figure can be cataloged accurately through what is visible and what the release actually calls it.

Compare it with WH043

The standing rifleman in WH043 offers the obvious companion comparison. The general activity is shared, but the different body height changes how each figure occupies a display.

That is one of the pleasures of following an infantry range closely: small changes in posture become meaningful once the figures are seen together.

Historical context beyond the single pose

The Wehrmacht series overview supplies the wider wartime setting. WH042 contributes an anonymous rifleman to that collection, without identifying a specific unit, front or day.

A collector can choose a suitable scene while keeping that choice separate from the original release record.

Keep the profile visible

A three-quarter view shows both the rifle and the bent leg. Very tall foreground scenery can hide the kneeling posture and reduce the figure to a helmet and barrel.

WH042 belongs in the reference catalog because it preserves this particular version of a common military subject. The pose and code together are much more useful than a generic description such as “German soldier firing.”

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WH042 product record lists a release date of November 2015 and a retirement date of October 2020. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
