King & Country · Napoleonic · NA013
NA013 gives the early French marching group a sword-bearing leader. The tall red plume and blue coat make him visually compatible with the infantry, while the different weapon helps the viewer find his role within the column.

The individual figure, not an invented biography
The product record labels the release “French Grenadier Officer Marching.” It does not name the man or assign a documented incident. The miniature’s sleeve markings and weapon should be compared directly with the photograph when identifying a loose example, rather than using a generic officer image from a different K&C release.
Grenadier is not another word for Imperial Guard
Grenadiers also existed within line infantry. The name alone does not place a figure in Napoleon’s Old Guard, and it does not mean he should be depicted throwing hand grenades. Here the useful subject is the marching organisation represented by the early K&C French group. Compare the officer with NA016’s drummer and NA028’s pioneer: three related figures can introduce leadership, music and practical labour without pretending to represent a complete regiment.
Give the sword and plume room
Place NA013 near the front or side of the column, keeping his stride aligned with the men. Check the sword’s full length, its connection to the hand and the plume tip before buying. Tall headgear can hide repairs where an ornament meets the cap. The marching base should also be checked at both feet. A small number of well-spaced figures will make the role clearer than a dense row in which every projecting part overlaps.
