The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD381
The yellow 17 stands out against the Sherman’s olive-drab hull, with three crew figures and sandbags completing the presentation. DD381 is the special-edition M4 associated by King & Country with the U.S. 6th Armored Division.
A Normandy arrival after the invasion day
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s division history dates its Normandy landing to 18 July 1944, six weeks after D-Day. The model therefore belongs to the wider campaign rather than a first-wave 6 June landing scene.
The same account records the division’s arrival at Buchenwald on 11 April 1945, after the SS guards had fled and prisoners had taken control of the camp. That history gives the divisional marking significance beyond the vehicle itself.
The special-edition contents
The release specifies an all-metal Sherman, three crew figures and six individual sandbags, with 200 examples announced. The full designation appears as DD381(SE).
The bags change the shape of the upper surfaces and make the accessories worth recording separately. The crew figures also deserve clear photographs rather than being counted from one distant view.
Keep No. 17 distinct from Tonto
DD382 is the companion Tonto subject with a different divisional association and exterior presentation. The shared Sherman shape should not erase those differences.
A side-quarter angle shows the large number, crew and sandbags together. This is the identifying combination to preserve when comparing a listing.
DD381 adds a specific numbered Sherman to the catalog, with a campaign setting that extends from the Normandy buildup into the final advance across Germany.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD381 product record lists a release date of June 2024. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
