The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD359(B)

DD359(B) drops the British rifleman onto one knee while keeping his weapon level at the shoulder. The raised knee and tucked head give the familiar firing pose a compact, balanced shape.

A useful height between standing and prone

The figure can sit below a standing rifleman without lying flat like the sniper or crawling soldier. That middle height helps a small infantry display avoid a uniform row of helmets.

The rifle, supporting hand and face remain close together. A front-quarter photograph should show the relationship clearly, rather than looking straight into the muzzle.

The B version belongs to the sand group

The pale base distinguishes DD359(B) from DD359(G), which uses grass. Both represent the kneeling-firing subject, so the suffix preserves the terrain choice.

The release is a single rifleman. It does not include another figure, a landing craft or a piece of cover, even though those additions can help place him in a larger scene.

Compare it with the standing rifleman

DD354(B) supplies the full-height firing pose. Set slightly behind and to one side, it creates a second level without hiding the kneeling man.

DD359(B) adds a simple but useful variation to the British beach infantry. The interest is in the posture’s clarity: raised knee, grounded knee, shouldered rifle and lowered head all work together.

Keep the complete base and weapon visible when checking an example. Those details separate the sand version of this particular pose from the several other low British riflemen in the D-Day range.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD359(B) product record lists a release date of November 2021. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
