King & Country DD315-3 D-Day Planning Group — Special Set No. 3: The Texas Ike Joins the Map Board Group

The figure comparison is the collecting interest

DD315-1 uses a short brown jacket with lighter trousers, while DD315-2 supplies a longer officer’s jacket. Here the matching olive clothing changes the appearance of the added commander without changing the whole group’s planning theme.

The short jacket’s hem and the trouser color are both worth checking in a photograph. A cropped head-and-shoulders image can hide the main identification details.

The board remains a substantial part of the set

The map is not merely a paper label behind the figures. Its large framed surface gives the arrangement a place and a subject, with the miniature commanders standing in relation to the invasion routes.

Keep the board and all five figures visible when assessing a complete example. The separately offered Texas Ike alone does not reproduce the promotional combination.

A show portrait gains another release context

DD294 already has its own event-related history. Its inclusion here creates a second way collectors may encounter the same portrait, which helps explain why a loose figure can appear with different packaging histories.

DD315-3 belongs in the catalog as a documented combination with a specific addition. The complete suffix tells a useful contents story when it stays attached to the correct Eisenhower uniform.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD315-3 product record lists a release date of May 2018 and a retirement date of June 2018. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
