The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD295

The helmet, binoculars and hands-on-hips stance give DD295 a field-command appearance. King & Country places this Omar Bradley portrait on the morning of 6 June 1944, when he commanded the U.S. First Army during the Normandy invasion.

The level of command matters

Bradley’s role should not be confused with Eisenhower’s command of the overall Allied operation. The manufacturer’s First Army identification gives this figure a specific place among the named D-Day leaders.

The later stages of Bradley’s career broadened his responsibilities, but the miniature’s stated setting remains the invasion morning. Keeping the date and command together makes the portrait more informative than a general list of later titles.

The clothing leaves the equipment visible

A lighter field jacket sits above darker trousers and brown footwear. Binoculars hang at the chest while the elbows frame the torso, making the officer’s carried equipment easy to see.

The helmet distinguishes this portrayal from dress-uniform portraits and the peaked-cap Eisenhower figures. It also gives the head a more compact outline than a bareheaded sculpt.

A returning subject within the catalog

The release announcement describes this as King & Country’s third Bradley figure. That is a useful point in the manufacturer’s own portrait history, although the announcement’s claim that it is the best version is a matter of taste.

DD079 provides an earlier Bradley entry with a different clothing treatment. Comparing the poses and garments gives a collector more to discuss than the shared name alone.

A named figure can clarify a group

Bradley can sit alongside the airborne and infantry subjects as the First Army command perspective. The anonymous men around him do not become identified members of a particular headquarters simply by proximity.

DD295’s collecting identity is the field-uniform portrait tied to D-Day morning. The helmet, binoculars and open stance make that interpretation clear while giving the face room to remain the focal point.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD295 product record lists a release date of September 2016 and a retirement date of October 2020. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
