The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD237

One man stays seated with his paddle while the corporal begins to climb out, Thompson in hand. DD237 catches a transition: the canoe has brought its two occupants to the coast, and their attention is shifting from the water to the land.

The two men do different jobs

The seated figure keeps the boat’s long horizontal line intact. His companion rises from it, creating the set’s main change in height and direction.

The dark narrow hull contrasts with the brown uniforms and pale equipment straps. A rope follows the craft’s edge, adding a fine line that rewards a closer look along the bow.

Canoes had more than one wartime role

The National Army Museum’s special-forces history describes folding canoes used for raids and beach reconnaissance. Its examples include operations associated with landings in North Africa and Italy.

That wider history is useful here. The release title gives an enemy coast but does not name a raid, a beach or either man. A collector can explore the small-boat theme without assigning the sculpt to an unsupported incident.

The shore is the missing half of the composition

A low shoreline beside the climbing figure makes the movement immediately legible. Keep it modest enough that the hull and the man’s lower body remain visible.

DD238 offers a natural comparison, with both men still paddling. The pair of releases can suggest two stages of arrival, although they remain separate sets rather than a documented sequence of one historical team.

A different scale of amphibious subject

The DD catalog includes large landing craft and crowded beach scenes. DD237 brings the waterborne story down to two men and a narrow craft.

That intimacy is its strongest feature. The set has a clear narrative without needing a mass of figures: one man remains with the paddle while the other cautiously changes the scene from afloat to ashore.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD237 product record lists a release date of June 2014 and a retirement date of June 2022. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
