The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD218
DD218 leans forward with his Thompson held low, his head turned slightly as the manufacturer’s scene has him calling to companions. The compact submachine gun breaks the long-rifle rhythm of the surrounding paratroopers.

The wartime Thompson was more than the movie image
The National Army Museum’s Thompson collection entry contrasts the famous drum-magazine image with the box magazines commonly used during the war.
The miniature presents that more compact visual arrangement. Its short weapon and upright magazine keep the gun close to the torso instead of extending far across the display.
An 82nd trooper with a different voice
The release announcement identifies the man with the 82nd Airborne and makes calling out part of the pose’s intended meaning. His lowered head and inclined body create a sense of movement that complements the gun held across him.
The netted helmet, webbing and brown boots connect him with DD216 and DD221. The Thompson helps distinguish the figure even when the face is difficult to see.
Choose an angle that reveals the hands
From directly in front, the equipment can merge into a busy cluster. A three-quarter view separates the gun from the jacket and lets the forward lean become more obvious.
Leave some room around the barrel and magazine. A neighbouring rifle can otherwise create an accidental tangle of dark lines that obscures both figures.
A useful change within an airborne group
DD212 supplies a silent hand signal; DD218 suggests a spoken call. That contrast can give a small display more variety without adding a vehicle or large scenic piece.
The release earns its place through its named weapon, 82nd attribution and compact movement. It is a distinct participant in the airborne group, rather than another rifleman with a different catalog number.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD218 product record lists a release date of August 2013 and a retirement date of May 2016. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
