The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD215
DD215 stretches almost entirely along the ground, the BAR projecting ahead of a heavily equipped 82nd Airborne trooper. His long, low outline changes the shape of an airborne display more dramatically than another standing rifleman would.

A weapon with a longer history
The National Army Museum’s Browning Automatic Rifle record traces the design to 1917 and notes its service across both world wars and Korea. The BAR’s history therefore reaches well beyond the Normandy setting of this figure.
The manufacturer identifies this miniature as an 82nd BAR gunner. That is a model attribution, not evidence that every paratrooper squad carried an identical equipment combination at every point in the campaign.
The pack is unusually visible
The prone pose exposes the back and its equipment. Straps, rolled items and the pack form a series of raised shapes along the figure, while the bent arms bring the face close to the weapon.
A slightly elevated photograph is essential for appreciating those details. A view taken exactly at ground level may show little beyond the helmet, barrel and outer edge of the base.
A different footprint to plan around
The base needs depth along the line of the body. Keep a high scenic rim from hiding the gunner, particularly when standing figures occupy the space behind him.
He pairs naturally in a collection comparison with DD221, which depicts an 82nd BAR man walking. The two releases show the equipment travelling and then occupying a low position.
DD215 adds that second perspective to the D-Day catalog. The historical weapon and the unusually exposed pack give collectors more to examine than the firing direction alone.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD215 product record lists a retirement date of May 2016. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
