The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD205

DD205 stands with one hand raised and his mouth open, giving a small artillery group a visible point of command. Binoculars hang against the front of his uniform beneath the netted helmet.

The gesture gives the gun a crew relationship

The original announcement identifies a standing officer about to give an order. He is supplied individually; the 25-pounder itself belongs to DD204.

Without the gun, the figure still reads as a man addressing others. With it, his raised hand and gaze connect him to the seated gunner and the additional loading figures.

Three levels make a more readable group

DD205 is upright, DD206 kneels and the two men in DD207 work at different heights. Their combined outlines make the artillery position more varied than a line of identical standing soldiers.

There is no need to place every man immediately against the gun shield. A little space helps the viewer follow the separate roles and see the equipment held by each figure.

The commander’s equipment stays secondary

The binoculars are visible, but the raised hand is the main focal point. The face and gesture sit above the heavier cluster of straps and pouches around the torso.

A slight turn toward the other crew figures makes the pose feel connected. Facing him away from the entire group can make the intended command relationship harder to understand.

Artillery is a team subject

The D-Day catalog history connects the guns with the wider Allied campaign. This figure’s contribution is more intimate: it makes coordination visible around a single weapon.

The archive does not name an actual officer or regiment for DD205. His collecting identity rests on the sculpted gesture and his role within the July 2013 artillery releases.

He belongs in the collection as the figure who draws the gun crew together, and as a useful reminder that an artillery model’s story includes people giving and receiving instructions.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD205 product record lists a release date of July 2013 and a retirement date of March 2016. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
