The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD091
DD091 pairs a crouching Resistance fighter at a plunger device with a standing man carrying a Sten. The two figures tell a compact story of sabotage and protection without needing a whole ruined railway on the shelf.
A wider purpose than the visible device
Resistance work against transport and communications formed part of the preparations for liberation. The French defence ministry’s historical glossary records planning for sabotage in support of the coming Allied landing.
That gives the set its campaign context. The miniature depicts a representative moment, not a named operation or a guide to carrying one out.
The pair’s contrasting roles
The crouching man directs attention down toward the equipment. His companion stands above him with the Sten across the body, giving the group both a lower focal point and a protective presence.
The archived description also identifies the mixture of civilian clothing, military equipment and Resistance armbands. Those details distinguish the pair from regular army engineers.
A small scene with room for interpretation
The release does not supply a particular bridge or railway location. A modest piece of ground or street scenery can frame the men while leaving the original two-figure subject clear.
The historical stakes should remain present: occupation, sabotage and liberation affected civilians as well as the combatants shown in miniature.
Why keep DD091 with the FFI groups?
DD089 and DD090 emphasize armed fighting poses. DD091 adds another Resistance activity and a two-man composition.
Together the releases broaden the DD series beyond uniformed forces, while their separate codes preserve exactly which figures were originally sold together.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD091 product record lists a release date of February 2008 and a retirement date of May 2010. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
