The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD090

DD090 combines a low rifleman with two more upright fighters, all differently dressed. The group is a companion to DD089, but its poses and original three-man combination deserve their own reference.

The variety is the visual subject

The archived description emphasizes captured weapons alongside Allied supplies. In the photograph, differing headgear and clothing make the men look like individuals rather than members of a parade formation.

The figures therefore add visual variety without requiring a large vehicle. Their equipment and contrasting postures carry much of the story.

Resistance was wider than a single organization

The route toward coordinated Resistance involved many groups and difficult political relationships. The French defence ministry’s history of France Combattante describes Jean Moulin’s work and the first meeting of the Conseil national de la Résistance in May 1943.

That background helps place the later FFI subjects within a developing movement. DD090 itself does not identify a named network or reproduce a documented ambush.

Three sightlines to preserve

The low figure can easily disappear behind the two standing men. A slight offset keeps his rifle and face visible while retaining the sense of a shared direction.

Compare the reference with DD089 before assigning loose figures to a box. Similar civilian clothing does not make the original groups interchangeable.

A different chapter in the collection

DD090 brings the civilian surroundings of occupation and liberation closer to the miniature story. It rewards a display that lets viewers notice the differences between the men, rather than burying them among a much larger uniformed formation.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD090 product record lists a release date of February 2008 and a retirement date of May 2010. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
