The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD079

DD079 presents Omar Bradley in a coat, with his hands resting at his waist. The figure’s stillness offers a different kind of command portrait from an officer pointing troops forward on the beach.

Which command belongs to D-Day?

Bradley commanded U.S. First Army during the Normandy invasion. First Army’s own history describes its preparation for Overlord and its role in the landings.

He moved to command 12th Army Group in August 1944. The U.S. Army’s Bradley reference provides the broader career setting. Keeping the commands and dates distinct avoids the confusing shorthand sometimes found in older retail descriptions.

A quiet pose for a large responsibility

The model does not need a map table or staff car to identify a command subject. Its coat and composed stance make it suitable for a small portrait display with a clear name label.

In a larger scene, nearby staff figures could provide context, but they would be additions chosen by the collector. The catalog should preserve the identity of the individual release.

Compare different scales of leadership

DD069 depicts Cota directing attention outward; DD079 gives Bradley a more contained pose. Putting such portraits near one another can raise a useful question about the different responsibilities carried by commanders during the same campaign.

It is a collecting comparison, not a claim that the miniatures reproduce a meeting between those officers.

Why Bradley has a separate place in the series

DD079 connects the DD range with the organization of the American campaign beyond a single landing beach. The figure becomes more informative when its label includes the relevant command, rather than only the general’s familiar surname.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD079 product record lists a release date of June 2007 and a retirement date of May 2012. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
