The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD044
DD044 gives a tank’s rear deck a human presence. The seated GIs and their equipment turn a vehicle display into a scene of men sharing a ride, with faces and postures above the machinery.

The tank is a display partner
The archived title identifies GI tank riders. The reference image presents the figures on a Sherman, which helps show their intended relationship to a vehicle but should not be read as proof that the tank is included in this figure release.
That distinction matters when comparing secondhand listings. Establish whether an offer is for the riders, the tank or a combined collection before comparing prices.
A different view of movement
A tank-rider group lets the collection show travel between fighting positions. The vehicle becomes a place occupied by people, rather than an isolated machine on a base.
The D-Day series overview places the set within the wider Allied campaign and its mixture of infantry, armour and support subjects.
Check the fit before planning the scene
The seated poses were arranged around a vehicle surface. Another tank may have different hatches, stowage or rear-deck shapes, so visual similarity does not guarantee a comfortable fit.
Give the figures an angle that reveals their faces and the way they sit. A direct low view from behind can hide much of the group behind the hull edge.
Why the riders need their own record
Accessory figures can become separated from their original release very easily. DD044’s entry preserves their identity and intended use, making it easier to recognize a missing rider group or avoid mistaking a mixed assortment for the original set. Compare each pose with the reference image rather than relying on the tank pictured beneath them.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD044 product record lists a retirement date of September 2006. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
