King & Country AL088 Turkish 77mm Field Gun: The Artillery in the Ottoman Position

Start with the gun itself

The saved reference photograph shows the artillery piece without a crew. The product description identifies it as a German-supplied Krupp subject used by the Ottoman forces. For a loose example, the shield, wheels and projecting trail are useful points to compare with the photograph, especially where a listing supplies only a distant view.

I would leave space behind the breech and alongside the carriage rather than surrounding every edge with infantry. A gun occupies working ground as well as display space. That distinction helps even a small arrangement suggest a functioning position.

Intact or abandoned?

AL088 makes a useful comparison with AL089, the damaged and abandoned gun released alongside it. One can anchor an occupied position; the other can suggest the aftermath. They should remain separate catalog records because the condition represented by the sculpt is part of the product’s identity.

For a collection otherwise dominated by horses, this artillery piece also changes the visual balance. Its wheels echo the circle of a mounted movement while its long, low shape establishes a fixed point around which the figures can be arranged.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived AL088 product record lists May 2017 as the release date and July 2021 as the retirement date. Those are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
