The Operation ToyBox catalog · AL062

Not every mounted AL figure has to represent the fastest part of an attack. AL062 places a trooper on a trotting horse with his rifle resting against his thigh, supplying a more contained movement than the range’s fully extended charging poses.

The release’s third-wave idea

The product description presents the rider as part of a third wave. That is useful as the miniature’s intended scene, but it should not be expanded into a claim that the figure reproduces a particular documented rider in a photographed formation.

The practical collecting feature is the pace and the rifle position. The weapon stays close to the body, so the figure can sit among other mounted subjects without creating as many crossing lines of barrels and bayonets.

A formation has depth

A staggered display can communicate movement more effectively than a single packed rank. I would place AL062 behind or to one side of a more dynamic rider, allowing the difference in posture to suggest a group extending through space.

The Australian War Memorial’s account of the mounted action is a useful starting point for thinking about the advance as an unfolding event. A collection can reflect that variety without trying to compress an entire formation into a few inches.

Why the quieter rider is useful

AL062 can also work in a movement or approach scene where the viewer is not being asked to imagine immediate hand-to-hand combat. Its contained silhouette gives the eye a pause between more dramatic weapons.

That is the reason to include it alongside the chargers. A comprehensive mounted collection benefits from different speeds and stages of activity, and this release offers those differences through the pose itself rather than through an elaborate arrangement of extra scenery.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived AL062 product record lists July 2014 as the release date and July 2021 as the retirement date. Those are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
