The Operation ToyBox catalog · AL037(B)

The suffix on AL037(B) has a real collecting purpose. This version of “Aye Ready” represents an Australian camel trooper with an army-issue blanket arrangement, distinguishing it from the more colourful blanket used on the original companion release.

What King & Country said about the B versions

The manufacturer’s November 2012 dispatch announced AL036(B), AL037(B) and AL038(B) as alternatives to the first three camel-mounted figures. It explained that the variants replaced the decorative privately obtained blankets with regulation army ones, with both groups available from the same planned release period.

That makes the blanket a better identification clue than a general assumption about camel colour or a later reissue date. Keep the suffix in the collection record and compare the saddle area in the photograph.

Camel troops within a Light Horse-titled range

The AL catalog extends beyond horses. The Australian War Memorial’s history of the Imperial Camel Corps follows the formation from its 1916 beginnings through operations in Sinai and Palestine. Cameliers used their animals for movement and fought dismounted.

In the reference image, the rider sits high above the camel’s long legs, with the carried equipment forming a substantial load around the saddle. The animal changes the whole silhouette of the display, even beside other mounted troops.

Why the variant deserves its own entry

AL037(B) is a good example of a collecting distinction that can disappear in a short online title. A listing labelled only “Aye Ready” may not tell you which blanket treatment is present.

I would give the camel enough space to show the saddle equipment and compare it with the other camel subjects as a separate group. The release rewards close looking and opens a useful historical branch of the AL collection beyond the familiar horses and charging riders.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived AL037(B) product record lists December 2012 as the release date and March 2014 as the retirement date. Those are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
