The Operation ToyBox catalog · AL036
A camel points one way while its rider turns back toward the men behind him. AL036 builds a small command scene from that twist in the saddle, with a colourful blanket giving the otherwise khaki figure an unexpectedly decorative setting.

Follow the officer’s glance
The release description identifies an Australian officer looking back toward his men. The sculpt leaves those men outside the set, so the viewer completes the conversation by following his turned head.
It is an effective lead figure for the three original camel subjects. With AL037 and AL038 following at a little distance, the officer’s backward attention makes the group feel connected. The camel’s long neck still directs the eye forward, creating two distinct lines through the scene.
The blanket identifies this version
In the manufacturer’s November 2012 announcement, the original camel trio has decorative blankets. The AL036(B) alternative substitutes an army blanket. The plain AL036 shown here is the decorative version.
Look at the saddle area when comparing a loose figure or a listing with an abbreviated title. An officer on a camel is not enough to distinguish the two catalog entries. The blue and purple pattern is a conspicuous part of this example’s appearance.
A new mount for men from the infantry
The Australian War Memorial’s unit history traces the Imperial Camel Corps to January 1916. Its first four companies drew on Australian infantry recovering after Gallipoli, before the formation expanded and served in Sinai and Palestine.
That background makes this figure a useful departure from the familiar image of an Australian soldier on a horse. The AL range can follow different kinds of mounted service within the same campaign.
Give the turn somewhere to lead
A quarter-angle view shows the officer’s upper body and the decorated saddle together. Leave space behind his shoulder for another camel or an implied column. The interest lies in that relationship: a commanding figure whose attention is on the people following him.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived AL036 product record lists a release date of December 2012 and a retirement date of July 2021. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
