The Operation ToyBox catalog · AL006
A fallen horse fills the foreground of AL006. Behind it, the light horseman remains standing with his rifle across his body. The contrast between the animal’s collapsed weight and the man’s active posture makes this a more sobering companion to the early charging figures.

The mount is part of the story
The release description identifies the horse as dead. Its saddle and equipment are still present, so this is visibly a working military animal caught in the same encounter as its rider. The sculpt does not turn the horse into an anonymous piece of battlefield scenery.
The bright chestnut coat also links it visually with the living mounts elsewhere in the range. In a display, that resemblance matters: the animal belongs to the same world as the energetic chargers, even though its movement has stopped.
A mounted soldier could become a foot soldier very quickly
The Australian War Memorial’s discussion of horses and camels in its galleries explains the Light Horse combination of mounted mobility and dismounted fighting. AL006 presents a particularly stark change between those two states, caused by the loss of the mount.
The figure can therefore open a discussion about the dependence of mounted troops on their animals. The rifleman still carries his personal weapon, but the horse’s loss has changed his mobility and his immediate circumstances.
A small scene that needs little added drama
I would keep the surrounding ground fairly open. The standing man and fallen horse already provide a strong contrast in height, shape and emotional weight. More casualty figures or an elaborate explosion would compete with that clear relationship.
Look at the horse’s legs, the rifle and the saddle equipment when examining a secondhand example. These details establish the scene’s shape and are more useful for judging completeness than a box photograph alone. AL006 broadens the early AL group by acknowledging the cost carried by the animals as well as the men.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived AL006 product record lists a release date of December 2009 and a retirement date of January 2012. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
