A new war after the world war
North Korean forces invaded South Korea in June 1950. The National Army Museum’s Korean War overview places the conflict within the developing Cold War. The figure is therefore not a Second World War Soviet or Chinese soldier, even when an abbreviated sales title treats similar-looking uniforms as interchangeable.
Compare with the Chinese 1946 infantryman
The two figures can illustrate separate conflicts and political settings in postwar East Asia. Their apparent simplicity makes the dates especially important. A side-by-side display should explain those differences rather than presenting them as one generic Communist infantry group.
The base can settle more than the seller’s title
Ask for the underside inscription, full front and side views. Check the weapon, cap edge and hands for damage, then compare the stance with the reference image. The broad term “People’s Army” appears in translated listings; keep North Korea and 1950 attached to it. Avoid assigning an issue code from another national subject just because the packaging series looks similar.
