The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD382

The colorful Tonto emblem breaks up the Sherman’s olive-drab side, while supplies are stowed across the rear. DD382 uses markings and stowage to give this M4 a different identity from the numbered DD381 release.

The name belongs to the model’s unit story

King & Country associates this Sherman with Captain Bill Dwight of the 37th Tank Battalion, 4th Armored Division. The release explanation connects the painted Tonto image with the familiar radio character.

The archived description accidentally retains a No. 17 heading from the companion entry. Its Tonto title, text and photograph identify the subject intended here.

The battalion’s wider campaign

The National Archives’ Battle of the Bulge account records the 37th Tank Battalion’s relief of Bastogne on 26 December 1944. That is useful unit context, not proof that this particular represented tank was the vehicle that made the first contact.

Three crew and a distinct load

The release specifies three crew figures, a supply pack, a numbered certificate and a presentation box, with 300 examples announced. The full code is DD382(SE); this catalog uses DD382 as the main entry rather than creating a duplicate article for the suffix.

A side view should preserve the emblem, while a raised rear-quarter photograph shows the stowed load. Both are important to the model’s appearance.

For the collection, Tonto contributes more than another Sherman outline. It brings a named exterior treatment and a battalion connection that can lead the reader from Normandy into the winter fighting, while keeping individual vehicle claims within the available evidence.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD382 product record lists a release date of June 2024. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
