The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD265-1

The three paratroopers walk with equipment hanging from almost every available space. DD265-1 turns the waiting airborne figures into a small procession, with each man carrying his load in a different way.

A sequence rather than a row

The reference photograph shows three distinct walking poses. One figure carries a long equipment bundle over his shoulder, breaking the otherwise compact line of helmets and packs.

Staggering the bases lets the group feel as though it is moving along a path. Perfectly aligned bases can make the poses look more ceremonial than the intended embarkation scene.

The destination in the release story

King & Country describes the three 82nd men heading toward their C-47 for Normandy. The aircraft is the implied destination, not an included part of this three-figure set.

That is helpful for a smaller display: the figures can move toward the edge of the base, allowing the viewer to imagine the transport beyond it.

The burden supplies the drama

The movement is modest, but the packs make each step look purposeful. This is a useful visual counterpoint to the dramatic moment of jumping or fighting after landing.

A low viewing angle emphasizes the legs and carried loads. A slightly higher angle reveals how the equipment changes the backs and shoulders of the figures.

The -1 suffix identifies the 82nd version; DD265-2 uses the corresponding 101st presentation. Check all three figures when comparing a set, including the man with the long shoulder-carried bundle.

Released in July 2015, DD265-1 gives the collection a clear direction of travel and a three-man transition between the assembly area and the aircraft.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD265-1 product record lists a release date of July 2015 and a retirement date of August 2018. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
