The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD264-2

This 101st Airborne trooper waits with his M1 carbine carried beside the body. DD264-2 keeps the equipment-heavy appearance of the pre-jump group while offering an alternative to the Thompson-armed figure.

The small things distinguish the variant

The shoulder patch identifies the divisional version. The carbine identifies the weapon combination. Together they are more useful than the broad phrase “D-Day paratrooper” when matching an older listing to a catalog entry.

The reference image shows the front pack and lower equipment clearly, with the weapon projecting below the left side of the figure as viewed from the front.

Waiting is part of the invasion story

The Library of Congress record of Eisenhower’s pre-invasion visit places the photographed 101st men at Greenham Common on 5 June 1944. The waiting figures in this miniature group belong to that broad world of preparation, even though they are not documented portraits of those soldiers.

A scene can draw on that atmosphere without copying the famous photograph. A few standing men and a nearby equipment-check pair already suggest an assembly area.

Give the carbine room to show

A figure placed too close against another base can lose the narrow weapon in a tangle of straps and legs. A slight turn and a little spacing make its outline clearer.

The August 2015 release earns its place through this specific combination of a quiet stance, carbine and 101st identity. It is a useful companion to the other preparation figures, while remaining identifiable on its own.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD264-2 product record lists a release date of August 2015 and a retirement date of August 2018. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
