The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS371

The hand at the ear changes everything. WS371 kneels beside a field telephone, making communication the subject rather than another weapon aimed beyond the display.

A telephone, not automatically a radio

The manufacturer identifies a field telephone. The Museumsstiftung Post und Telekommunikation’s Feldfernsprecher 33 record provides a useful historical comparison: a portable wired instrument with a handset, case, battery and hand-operated calling generator.

The comparison explains the kind of equipment represented without asserting that every tiny fitting on the miniature has been positively matched to that museum example.

The small box matters

The equipment beside the kneeling man and the handset held to his ear establish the action together. Hide either one and the scene becomes harder to understand.

The covered helmet and patterned trousers contrast with his green jacket. The low posture concentrates the figure and telephone in a compact space.

Information is another battlefield task

The product narrative allows for receiving news or instructions. It does not identify the caller or the message, so an exact order would be an invention.

Placed behind figures who are moving or aiming, the signaller can suggest coordination beyond the immediate group. It is a different contribution from simply adding another rifle.

WS371 is the single signaller with the depicted telephone arrangement. Other headquarters personnel and scenery are separate additions.

The set belongs in the catalog because it makes the communications role visible within the HJSS range. Check the handset, equipment case and complete kneeling figure together when comparing a secondhand example.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS371 product record lists a release date of November 2022. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
