The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS331

WS331 is a single officer with his pistol extended at a person outside the frame. The hand on his hip and rigid arm make the threatening gesture immediately legible.

The companion set explains the target

The manufacturer presents the officer as an addition to WS330, where an SD man confronts a Russian civilian over a Lenin portrait. WS331 adds another armed participant; it does not include the civilian or the portrait-bearing figure.

Viewed alone, the pose can seem like a generic pistol figure. Its catalog relationship identifies the more specific intended subject: intimidation of a civilian during occupation.

Keep the historical institution in view

The US Holocaust Memorial Museum’s account of SS and police units in the Soviet Union describes the Security Service’s participation in mass-murder operations. The name “security” should not make this role sound like ordinary protective policing.

The model does not identify a named victim or a documented village incident. Its gesture represents a coercive situation rather than proving the details of one historical encounter.

Direction matters in a small display

The pistol creates a clear line across the figure’s front. In the intended grouping, the direction of that line is essential to understanding the scene.

A slight gap between the figures allows the extended arm to remain visible and avoids hiding the civilian behind the officer’s body. No additional scenery is needed to establish the relationship.

WS331 earns a separate catalog entry through this role as a one-figure addition. Check the peaked cap, extended pistol arm and opposite hand at the hip when comparing a loose example with the saved reference photograph.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS331 product record lists a release date of March 2017 and a retirement date of April 2019. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
