The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS317
The gun looks large because the vehicle beneath it is small. WS317 places a long antitank weapon above the compact running gear of a Lorraine-based Marder I, with an open fighting compartment instead of a revolving tank turret.

The chassis tells the earlier story
The manufacturer traces the subject to captured French Lorraine vehicles converted to carry a German 75 mm antitank gun. Its Normandy association comes through the German use of these converted vehicles, rather than through an originally German chassis design.
This makes the model a useful reminder that an army’s equipment did not all share one national origin. The visible result combines an existing tracked platform with a new weapon and protective structure.
Open at the top
The tall side plates surround the gun position but do not form an enclosed turret. A slightly elevated view reveals the compartment and makes the difference from a conventional tank immediately clear.
The number 25, camouflage patches and exposed gun assembly are identifying features in the saved photograph. The long barrel needs visual space in front of the vehicle; crowding it against another model hides the release’s most distinctive proportion.
Let the conversion be the theme
A collecting comparison with a conventional German tank can focus on layout rather than claiming that the two vehicles fought together in a particular action. WS317’s interest lies in its compact chassis, elevated gun and open working space.
The reference image shows the vehicle without an obvious crew group in the fighting compartment. Do not infer included figures from the number of men required to operate the historical weapon.
For this catalog entry, the Lorraine-based conversion is the essential identity to preserve.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived WS317 product record lists a release date of August 2015 and a retirement date of August 2017. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
