The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS290

WS290 brings both hands to binoculars while kneeling. The rifle stays slung behind the shoulder, making observation the immediate activity.

The optics take over from the weapon

The raised arms frame the face, and the covered helmet sits above the binoculars. The rifle’s position behind the body makes the change of task easy to understand.

The product record gives no named observer or exact target. The miniature communicates looking outward without establishing what lies beyond the display.

A useful change in height

Compared with the standing observer WS279, the kneel lowers the figure’s center and changes the relationship between body and equipment. It can sit near the front of a group without hiding the men behind.

The gray knees meet the surface directly, avoiding a broad scenic platform. The low pose should remain visible rather than being crowded between taller figures.

Connect observation with preparation

WS287’s loading gesture and WS288’s grenade-handling task offer complementary actions. The three can form a small group in which each man does something different.

They are separate releases, and the display does not represent a documented team or named episode simply because the figures work well together.

WS290 earns its place as the kneeling binocular observer. Keep the optics, raised arms and slung rifle visible in photographs, since the equipment arrangement is the most useful way to distinguish it from other low German infantry subjects.

The figure’s quiet activity adds variety without requiring a dramatic firing pose.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS290 product record lists a release date of May 2014 and a retirement date of November 2020. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
