The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD350
DD350 shows a woman with a shorn head holding a small child against her body. The pale dress and pink clothing of the child make a quiet composition, while the subject introduces a difficult part of liberation that military miniatures rarely address.
Accusation was not the same as a finding of guilt
A CNRS discussion with historians of the purge explains that head-shaving targeted women accused of several kinds of collaboration, not only sexual relationships. Public humiliation mixed allegations, revenge and gendered punishment.
The model does not identify the woman or child. It cannot establish a particular relationship, offense or family history, and the child should not be assigned responsibility for an accusation against an adult.
The figure concentrates on vulnerability
The mother’s arms surround the child rather than holding a weapon or making a public gesture. The close grouping keeps attention on the two people and their dependence on one another.
The manufacturer’s title identifies the subject as victims of the purge. That framing is essential to understanding the set; this is not simply another celebratory Liberation figure.
A collection can include uncomfortable history
DD350 broadens the D-Day range beyond the battlefield and victory parade. It can prompt a discussion of what happened to civilians when occupation ended and local power changed hands.
It should be presented with a clear explanatory label. The related DD351 depicts a head-shaving scene, but it is a separate release and not part of this mother-and-child grouping.
The collecting interest lies in the unusual civilian subject and the restrained composition, with the historical uncertainty preserved rather than replaced by an invented biography.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD350 product record lists a release date of October 2021. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
